About Sweets4Troops

Michael Embrey would like to share with everyone the concept of “Sweets4Troops” and how the idea evolved. In the fall of 2014, as Halloween approached, the weather in the Midwest turned cold with freezing rain and snow mix, making it next to impossible to go “Trick or Treating” for almost everyone. As this was happening, Mr. Embrey received a call from another Military Help group organization looking for donations for Holiday treat packages for military service members serving overseas. With many families and businesses overloaded with left over candy, Mr. Embrey started the first collection with a basic social media listing and local newspaper release. He was pleasantly surprised with the calls for support and the many donations that started to be delivered to his office complex. Within two weeks, he had collected over 250 pounds of candy. So, with that first year’s success, the concept was created for “Sweets4Troops” as an annual event. Mr. Embrey hoping to make this a national program in the coming years.

Michael Embrey is a military Veteran, having served as a musician with the famed “U.S. Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps/Band”.
